Cannabis edibles are the category where we have the most in-depth conversations with customers at our Main Street location in Mount Pleasant. The product works differently than smoking or vaping, the dosing learning curve is real, and getting it wrong is genuinely unpleasant. We would rather spend five minutes talking through expectations than have someone leave with something that gives them a bad experience.
Our edibles selection at 208 E 16th Ave covers gummies, chocolates, capsules, and beverages. On the gummy side we carry Spinach SOURZ, Wana, and 1964 Supply Co as consistent options , these producers have good dosing accuracy across batches, which matters more than most people realise. A gummy labelled 10mg that actually contains 6mg or 14mg produces a wildly different experience than what you planned for. Health Canada mandated testing keeps legal market products within a tighter variance than anything you would find outside a licensed dispensary.
Chocolate edibles from producers like Slow Ride Bakery and Chowie Wowie give customers a dessert format that feels different from a medicinal supplement. These are popular with our South Main and Riley Park customers who use cannabis recreationally rather than therapeutically.
Capsules are our go-to recommendation for customers using cannabis for sleep, pain management, or anxiety who want repeatable, consistent dosing without any flavour. 5mg or 10mg per capsule, taken like any other supplement. They are also the cleanest option for people who want zero cannabis taste or smell.
We regularly bring in products from smaller producers when the BCLDB allocation includes them. If you have a specific brand or format in mind, check our online menu before making the trip from Kensington-Cedar Cottage or Fraser specifically for it.
Start with 2.5mg to 5mg. Wait 90 minutes before deciding anything. This is the advice we give every first-time edibles buyer and a lot of returning customers who are trying a new format or a new producer. The liver converts THC to a compound called 11-hydroxy-THC when processing an edible, which is more potent and longer-lasting than inhaled THC. The onset is slower, the peak comes later, and the total duration runs three to six hours depending on your metabolism and what you have eaten that day.
The most common mistake is taking a second dose at the 40-minute mark because nothing seems to be happening yet. Both doses then arrive together. Our budtenders have had this conversation hundreds of times. The advice is always the same: commit to the 90-minute wait before you make any decisions about taking more.
If you are an experienced cannabis smoker trying edibles for the first time, your tolerance from smoking does not transfer cleanly. Start lower than you think you need to.
We stock CBD-dominant and 1:1 ratio products for customers who want the cannabis edible experience without strong psychoactive effects. A 1:1 product with equal CBD and THC at 5mg each produces a noticeably different, more grounded feeling than a high-THC edible at the same THC content. CBD moderates the psychoactive effect and many customers find ratio products more manageable and more useful for daytime use.
These are particularly popular with older customers at our Mount Pleasant location and with people using cannabis for the first time who want to start conservatively. Ask our team what ratio options we have in stock when you come in.
